How To

Doesn’t it look like the little girl is trying to teach the chickens how to fly? I painted her in gumboots but where’s her sweater?! Must be a typical fall day.

Don’t give a hoot

Barn owls don't give a hoot. They screech and hiss and purr instead.

Just shy

Are raccoons reclusive, or just shy?

New true blue

What is denim but blue canvas. And what is canvas but an invitation to paint. Here is my new, true, blue friend

Should you

Should you sit by the seashore? Yes. Should you share the view with a companion ? Sure. Should you sit under a coconut tree? Hmmmm.

Same eyes

On a cool summer morning, my daughter and granddaughter and I bundled up our paints and brushes and made the trek to Mill Lake to ‘capture the day.’

This was a second annual event sponsored by a local art group and this time, watercolor paper was offered as a choice along with canvas.
I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of our three paintings. Though we used different mediums, our color palette seemed chosen by the same eyes.

great day for ducks

Whenever it rained,  my father would declare, "It's a great day for ducks." Good to know isn't it, that someone is happily paddling about as the rain sluices down.

Downspouts gurgle and purcolate. Wet windows waver like antique glass, and a thousand tiny squares in the window screen hold water droplets: abstract art, cross-stitched in silver threads.

P.S. My mind seemed determined to paint a chick instead of a duckling and I had to scrub out a couple areas and things got a bit muddy and murky. Just like a duck pond?

woof?

I sketched a terrier, short haired and sleek. Somehow my paintbrush had other ideas. That's alright. I've never met a terrier I didn't like.

winter baby

My granddaughter gave me a pad of watercolor paper that is two and a half inches by three and a half. I absolutely LOVE painting that size!!

This is a birthday card for my winter baby.

always named Mickey

My gramma had border collies once upon a time and long ago. I think they were always named Mickey.
